Common nickel alloys used for flanges include Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy, Nickel 200/201, Alloy 20, Alloy 625, Alloy 825, and Alloy 400, each offering specific properties suited for different application requirements.
Welding can affect the strength of a nickel alloy flange due to changes in the microstructure and the introduction of residual stress. The heat generated by welding can change the properties of materials in the heat-affected area and reduce strength and hardness. Proper welding techniques and post-welding heat treatment are necessary to maintain or restore desired mechanical properties.
Nickel alloy flanges can withstand temperatures ranging from cryogenic temperatures (-196°C or lower) to very high temperatures over 1000°C, depending on the specific properties of the alloy. This makes them suitable for various applications in industries such as power generation.
Nickel alloy flanges generally do not require corrosion protection coatings due to their inherent corrosion resistance.
